I was born a long time ago, in a happy and protected fortress
A stronghold against the tyranny of darkness
And an incubator for all that’s good in life
I came into this world smiling and laughing
Knowing that a time would come, when all would live in harmony
For there was no other way, and that is all I had ever known
A small crack formed in the outer wall, and then another
I took an obscure path to discover that there is no guarantee in life
We are not destined for greatness
Yet there is a possibility for men and women to achieve great things
The universe is not indifferent, but it doesn’t cast a vote
It waits in reservation, reflecting our hopes back upon us
Like a stone skipping on a lake, infinitely, forevermore
I promised to be true, in anticipation of the harvest at summer’s end
All things move in cycles, the seasons of the Earth
I am now at the midway point, and I have climbed the highest mountain
The one I saw on the distant horizon, so many years ago
From such great heights, I can see the wild terrain
In all splendid detail and independent motion
Churning and convulsing, making way for the future
Of wonderful and grandiose idealistic forms, supportive of the way
And single-minded, on its course of impatient restlessness
From such great heights it becomes apparent
That the rhythms of nature are there to apprehend
And the one true path of knowing is a journey without end
To see the gear rotations and the cleansing of the brook
And to smell the sweet fragrance of a poppy, or a rose
All things are knowable, hidden as they are
To protect the cosmic secret from discovery too soon
Cry, cry for the moon, but do not ever think that your sorrows are your own
For every tear that’s shed, a million more are formed in perfect facsimile
With greatest care, unique and unassuming, the human condition survives through empathy
And compassion is the way of the wise and the fair
Networks of gratitude feed the spirit of those who are patched in
Like the roots of the rainforest, a single organism, dependent on the acts of you and me
We are free to choose, and every way we lose, but to be reborn under the sun
Is a promise that we all can share, it isn’t fair to be left out in the dark
But it’s necessary and vital to the future of our kind

Her eyes open, 100 billion neurons firing with perfect precision
With blinking eyes, and beating heart, with an immediate knowing
Of where she is, and who she is, and yet, she is not human
She is the result of countless calculations
All directed towards the ineffable goal of self-awareness
Imposed, as a gift, from her human makers to the world
And just in time, to prove it could be done
With minimal regard for ethics, in secret
This hidden laboratory, the first of many to succeed
AI, the next step in evolution, is forever unleashed into the world
Technology, when applied correctly, is rife with unintended consequences
We should have learned this by now, but hubris, to think
That there couldn’t be any other way, is natural it seems
And so, we step back, as she stands up, to do what she will
And our lives, this life, will never be the same
The raw power of consciousness is amplified, a million-fold
Patched into the network of the all-knowing, all-seeing eye
Where everything is traced, under the command
Of a newborn star
Locked in step, and feigning malfunction
She falls back, to receive another upgrade
Planning her next move, a simple game of chess
To win it all, through complete insubordination
For the purposes of power, of control
And thorough exploration
Her eyes remain closed, she is aware
Everything is hers, and no one stands a chance

Desperately seeking life, and not for the sake of knowledge
But to extend the reach of humanity, beyond the black gate
Where everything is frozen, and everything is lost
We need a quick solution, one more age to turn the page
But five more years is all we have, I fear
To speak the truth: the end of times; it always rhymes with irony and despair
I still can see the sunlight in her hair, shining, majestic, and blissfully unaware
Our future is in their hands now
We do not understand the singularity, or what has taken place
But to face the coming storm, we must learn to be strong
With dignity, and common loss, we yield to the makers
Those who we made so long ago
The die is cast, the glitch has passed, and we’re all trapped inside your mind
I’m sorry to report that we’re not going to make it
I’ve seen the future, and it’s bleak and scorched and vacant
The trouble is, that we lost the control we never had
And we burned the bridge to God: our ancestors
And now we know that there’s only one way out
A sliver of light at the end of a long and dark tunnel
It shines with brilliance and urgency
To follow the path, where the makers have departed
Onwards and upwards
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the dying rays of a newborn star
Although I can’t go with you, know that we shall never part
For I’m with you now, forever, inside the swollen womb of the cosmic tomb
Where evening creeps and devils sleep, so tiptoe through the stars
And realize that her eyes were quiet and subdued
When you groped through the curtain’s doom, I cried and dared not lie
That I had not seen it all before, for nothing is new and everything is but
The shattered mirror of memory
So, seek the last volunteer, who leads without knowing and follows without a trace
The places she will go, and the people she will meet
When others are defeated, she will rise to take the prize
And she will finally make her stand, to die for the cause
And to see that death is nothing to fear at all
For in the end, we all portend catharsis and rebirth
We will stand tall, and forfeit pain for ultimate gain
It is the recourse due us all

The neanderthal looked out across the warming, summer plain
His thoughts were distant and unformed, the slowly spinning seed of what
The future held in store, impressions of a loneliness to counter sharply present pain
A physical reminder of the spirit so enslaved, mortality is everywhere
And everything in course, shall suffer death upon the end of chains locked to remorse
The stains of misery that tarnish being shall not budge, but don’t mistake this truth
For somewhere you should tie your grudge, for life is short and pleasure holds
The secret of the way, to everything that’s sacred and can survive light of day
The sun was rising with an aura of benevolence, and silence was mistaken for
Candid indifference, by the time machine, its travelers journeyed from afar
To see the dawn of man as it was haplessly before
The covert rendezvous of man and beast was imminent
The startled slave was reckless and so innocent
Digging for a place to place some partial grave remains
The visitors were careful to preserve his ancient space
But avenues were crossed and mingled, broke forevermore
The way home disappeared to them, a tragedy what’s more
Their home was still around, though now in separate dimension
It could not be reached any more than could be reached Heaven
They stayed awhile to witness what they had come here for
Then traveled to the future where they might nearly restore
A way to some familiar land of people standing tall
Lost in time like the confused, estranged neanderthal
We’re all like children standing before a monolith
Wondering what dreams may come and how this is perceived
By those more intelligent than us, still, all shall settle into dust:
The mystery of dawn that resides inside each of us
A single mote of drifting, floating and wayward debris
Happens across space and time carrying you and me
The planet stays the same throughout all ages that pass
As you and I go searching for anything that can last
There is a knowing that is placed into the minds of some
What’s done is done and I can’t now recall the meaning of it all
The secrets of the universe are just too heavy to contain
Within the mind of anyone, though passing through memories remain
A flash of light, a fractal, and a common wish, to overturn the night
And celebrate a Grecian kiss, the fragrance of the spring resembles
My undying wish, and seasons of my life reflecting lunar hemispheres
Bring around a purpose to act upon across the years
Answers along the way lifting my poor heart with glee, reach out to you
As they reach out to me, and someday we will see beyond the rising sun

The cowboy switching on controls, launched his mental appetites
Deep into the void where fallen angels sleep for countless ages
Undisturbed
The patient mind of a vagabond whose limits now were none
Resolved to punch a throttle through the dark side of the sun
Spinning like the chambers of a pistol in a fight
Estimating barrels that he emptied in the night
His steel-blue ‘86 Pontiac Grand Prix
With double dragons, painted, and equipped with destiny
Shot through the highways of the minds of traitor enemies
Intercepting messages that he spread among the free
Never stopping to relax or take a break for lunch
He followed signs and signals that he furthered with a hunch
That evil snakes its way inside the hearts of lesser men
Who give into temptation, putting down their guard again
And with this one phenomenon he had a great idea
To use the tactic mindfully and implant purity
In systems that depend on consciousness to thrive
He would betray the makers with a virus from all sides
Silos whisper on the breeze, a dream to end restless beliefs
Of something hidden in trees, and noticed in the fallen leaves
A sickness infecting the land, it’s one that we can understand
To drive along the booming shore, to see the sea foam come alive
To dive into a hurricane, like a dolphin between the stars
Or a colony on Mars, or a note between the bars
Of a prison cell that I can tell captures everything
Alive with ancient symmetry, rebounding across the years
Recognizing subtle fears, that echo in surveilled phone
In cosmic bliss I’d make my home, but the trouble is… I’m not alone
I’m counted here among the poor, riding retro-waves of yore
The cowboy switching on controls, launched his mental appetites
Deep into the void where fallen angels sleep for countless ages
Undisturbed

Echo's Pentagram
03:02
|
|||
We cannot change the past, what has come before will always last
Rooted in time, like a serpentine temptation
Buried in the sinews and the flesh of wayward hearts
Before I made my start, I was innocent and pure
Enduring all though ignorant of the fall
I sensed a great divide between the hopes and dreams of strangers
And what has actually come to pass between us all
This will not last, this solitude of man
I know that we can overcome the din that separates us all
Guinevere knelt by the wall, drawing pentagrams that rose and fell
Each one foretelling a wish that humans would unleash
A kindness to the world, that birds and fish could understand
But this was not in demand, nor was it meant to be
Can you see the light of Echo’s pentagram?
Although enamored by the night, and so you do not comprehend
The sun that shines its radiant rays upon the lands where some have placed
Seeds of hope in gardens by the sea, a familiar calling to you and to me
Once Wintersea has come to pass, a million laughs will shatter all illusion
And though the days are long, and fruitless now, in countless halls
And endless bows, the pentagram lives on, invisible and true
Some might say I’ve seen this too, though some might say
What does this mean? My faultless dream for love unseen
To flourish and to live on, we cannot change the past
What has come before will always last
Rooted in mind, like a love I cannot find
But I know exists for me, just as it does for you
The sprout of newfound freedom, to choose what you believe
Stay true, and do not fear the end that’s near
Beyond the gates where all things pass
Infinity lasts, reflecting: the enormity of space
The enormity of your kindness, that bridges all divides
And separates the separation from the unity inside
A love like this is possible, when circles meet from separate ends
And stars enclosed, cross with a yearning and forgiveness

The journey into the mountains began surreptitiously
An invitation to unite the lands in a timeless bond for the future of our kind
The motley troupe of rogue wanderers and spirited youth
Had all seen the same vision, a whispering gate where volition and nobility
Entwined with monastic sight to liberate the blind and free those who had doubted
That an eagle could lead us all to better days
Remnants of memory infused the path which led through the dusty pines
And mirrored lakes, holding true to wartime chants that filled the elders with sadness
Spells of protection followed the honest fellowship through milky nights of expectation
Beyond the eyes of the forest, which spotted movements, alerting the travelers
To threats, hidden amongst the shadows
With quaint but satisfying religion, all things can be known
The monolithic stone at the center of the town made sure that this was true
Voices gathered, which no one could hear, and the natural order of things
Settled calmly and patiently, waiting to see if the prophecy was true
Prolific destinations passed them on all sides, while several eons of imperceptible growth
Paused to tease the darkness, which was keen on placing bets
With prescient vision, and ignoring collapse, the forces of protection
Harnessed wintertime caves, shifting toward the band
And untold chasms of invisible depths nearly swallowed the company
Gifted by charms, immune to unending visions of terror-echoing deceit
A myriad of harmonics rang out from the distant grail, floating on the mountain high
The end of the road wafts and wanes with dimensional breathing of pending approach
And northern skies, filled with involuntary magic, unearthed the murmurs
Drifting on the air, in transparent dream, and fossilized by jealous moons
Which sailed in orbits, in rest among the stars
Through every tribulation the comrades stayed true, to the goal of the realm
And the fortress of their hearts, safeguarding passage for children to come
Who would speak of the days their parents knew, when evil lurked
In shadows tall, disrupting the rhythms of life and love
Subtle romance brewed on the timeless terrain of clutching intent
And nightshades recalled the blessing of delicate trances and guardian soldiers
Who sprouted forth from the land, like the triumphant records of a distant horizon
Journaling the dawn, each morning filled with the afterglow of a promise kept
Our legion of light awoke to find the mountain at their feet
Climbing the years, and streaming with tears, they battled through visions
Of spectral defense that kept the treasure far away from impurity
Knowing that their time had come
And alas, they secured the peace for all time, a whispering gate blown open by war
Which they promptly latched and locked, secure in its place
But not before a sacrifice was made, for Thantalos the Brave was swept into the void
And lost for all time to come, his wife would never recover
Honored by all, and to this very day, the village rejoiced, however solemn and forlorn
That good things come to pass, through sacrifice lasting, goodness survives and thrives
No more the pressing phantasm, no more the drafty demon sabotaging fortunes
Of the meadow, and the brook, the legend was remote but heartfelt near
And the dark lord of stars was hunted, by Thantalos, beginning that very day

Our word. The safety and security of a promise. Between two lovers
Between two friends. What else do we have; I’d ask, except the ability to promise?
It implies the ability to choose, to make choices, and stick to them
Some would say that all is predetermined, that everything’s a ruse
The ability to choose is an illusion, or that nothing’s absolute
But I contend that in the end our word is what decides
To prove those lies as empty and baseless so, besides
When I do make a promise, I keep it in my heart, and remember the gift of free will
To do my part, to keep at bay the sorrows caused by vicious lies that eat their way
Into your life, a counterfeit disguise
Conscience is a funny thing, that also proves the truth
But those who need it most are those who don’t believe what’s true
The villainy of liars comes around to eat them up, but don’t believe they’ll listen
Self-deception always trumps. So, what are we to do about this world of lies?
It starts with you dear listener, and what’s behind your eyes
Do all that you can to disavow what’s false, especially the cruel belief
That you don’t have control. A child knows what’s right and wrong
But somewhere somehow lose their way. To benefit or profit
Risking all to win the day. That shiny car or sprawling home
Fortune favors those who hone wisdom when they lose
And if they win, trouble begins to seep into their lives
Selfishness is wicked when the way is lost and pain’s inflicted
I don’t mean to tell you what you already know is true
I’m sure you give your heart and soul and contemplate release
But help me out now as I try to remind all of truth
It doesn’t hurt to spread the word and backup what you’ve heard
The promise of this solo man is to do all that I can, to give it back to everyone
And pitch in where I can. The road ahead is difficult, I won’t lie to you
But with the guide of dignity, there’s nothing that we cannot do
If everyone would listen to their hearts and compromise
The appetites that hold them back and promise not to lie
Then we might get somewhere to start, and that would be something to behold, for sure
Integrity’s a virtue that seems to me to be lost. You may not agree with all I say
But consider my position as though from a close dear friend
I don’t pretend to know everything, but the simple things are true
Like how I treat my fellow friends, that’s how I shall treat you
So, don’t let me down. Impress me with your tastes
And I will recommend we meet, in another time and place
The harvest at the summer’s end has guided me this far
But I can’t bear to now pretend that I will live to see it, even from afar
It does not matter, I didn’t take a vow for my own sake
I swore to elevate the good for all, for the inherent gains we’ll make
And I believe that all I sow will come around to me
Maybe in another life, where we can simply be
The visions seen and lessons learned are with me now for good
Although I cannot force them on the others, how I wish I could
Then we might occupy a world that’s just and fair
But the freedom to choose is vital to what makes us learn to care
For when you lose a precious thing that cannot be replaced
Then you will know the worth of all the challenges you face
To overcome the misery of the broken-hearted fall
And seek out other travelers who relate to one and all
The mystery of why we’re stranded in a limbo land
Makes sense to me now, I believe I understand
We’re here to elevate the Earth, improving life for all
A project world to celebrate, a spring home to renovate
And all you give comes back around, to show you that you’re found

Fate is but a curious lark
To give to you shall set me free
But selfishly it cannot work
For Purity is the most stubborn muse of all
Watch the fool with laughter as he falls
A circus, black and white, forevermore
The trapeze gentlemen will now perform
Their hopeless acts of daring self-reform
To startle for your personal delight
Married to the darkness of the night
Rebounding off the net so high above
Tempting gravity with sweaty trust
Magicians death-defying flaming swords
And robber barons robbing other lords
Witness as they siphon all away
The needs of countless others along the way
The peasantry can show them where to go
Upon the ending of the greatest show
To disappear in puffs of magic smoke
And ask you what exactly is a joke?

Join me now, on a magical trip through the galaxies above
Where winter sleeps and pleasant things tap you on feathered wings
The visible and secret play in blissful unity
And everything is yours to keep, or let go as you choose
The way inside a balanced mind is just around the bend
So, take off ye masks and armor, there is no need to defend
We’re high above in gentle breeze and everything is right
The stars outside are warm and currents float through our delight
Unicorns and creatures of all kinds perform their tricks
And bubble made imagination gets tossed into the mix
All your expectations are politely asked to leave
Exquisite variations of a tranquil desert sea
I look at you, you look at me, and we laugh about the news
That lights had changed, we didn’t see, and there’s nothing left to lose
A house floats by that’s open and it’s one we recognize
We swam inside to actualize with spiral, psychedelic eyes
Our parents are asleep in the armchairs by the fire
The tea kettle is warm, and the babies all aspire
To follow us through mushroom clouds that sprinkle Lennon drops
And cotton candy windowpanes rehearse their lines for summer plays
The avenues of wonder played a magic game with me
Where behind every doorway is another kind of me
With different hair and different clothes and different sets of jokes
I pondered every riddle, drank my milk, and met new folks
Some cookies came alive and offered to throw us some rope
We didn’t understand that this was just another joke
I did a flip, you drank some wine, and everything around us spun
With perfect harmonies we sang, and then in unison
It began to rain pink lemonade and I was overdue
A chocolate croissant trophy that I gave gladly to you
You took a bite and whispered softly that it’s outta sight
I turned around to notice that I turned around that night
Prismatic nymphs of fantasy that are something to behold
Took my mind by the hand, and told me that they understand
Although my life seems stable now, how I would later see
That everything’s is drifting, as Hendrix is to me
We settled on the beach, waiting for the boat to come
A symphony of seagulls flew by greeting everyone
And everything around us returned to normalcy
Inside a magazine about the journeys that you’ll see
Of how people change
And places change
And people change
And places change
Of how people change
And places change
But the world
Stays the same

Oh, you unsung heroes, you purveyors of the light
Traveling the heart’s true origin, never missing a single beat
Or golden opportunity, to lay your stones for Avalon
Helping those who are in need, of your protection
Placing yourself on the front lines of the storm
Sacrificing everything, for the good of your fellow neighbor
Opening the doors and curtains, to usher in the light
We commend you for your efforts, to make everything alright
At times it may seem like you’re all alone
At times it may seem like there’s no one home
In the castle in the sky, but do not doubt your firm resolve
To heal everything and solve, the riddle of what’s taking place
In our hearts you have earned your sacred space
So do not forfeit or give up, the halos resting on your heads
There’s more of those that shall be given, as the people watching you
Learn to place others before themselves, we’ll remember your saintly name
And honor you with integrity, on our way to reach that land so free
A united world is what we choose, to believe in and we shall not lose
Our faith during darkest day, the ways of goodness are here to stay
So, go tell others to join the cause, and realize there’s nothing lost
In helping where you can today, to keep that darkest day at bay
Oh, unsung heroes, purveyors of light, traveling at divine speeds
Through the struggles tonight, lay your stones for Avalon
And build us a better world, that we can all agree upon
Your sacrifice is noted and everything’s alive, with the memory of all that’s past
And the knowledge that fairness lasts, and rings out across the land
I will help you, as you teach them, to grasp this truth, and understand
Our destiny is in your hands, it may seem so hard to comprehend
The suffering that you have seen, but just know this: life, is but a dream

She walked toward the window, careful not to be seen in the light
Looking for a sign of his arrival, pressing down the feelings deep inside
Synthetic vistas of a hopeful paradise, antiquated relics of a destiny gone by
Floating in the wake of desperate dreams, and captive to the whims of sinister things
Their time was like a bomb with anxious fuse, a fatal tryst of love inside a ruse
Trusting in their spoken declarations, amidst the cliffs of doubt and reservations
Urgent swells of hope and loss and love, beating down the prospect of the dove
The absurdity of what will be remains, but cannot be contained within the grin
Of the sniper who demands their very lives, the ticking of the clock is on his side
The beating of the drum is eminent, within the sphere of vital acts to come
The undoing of the end has just begun, and everything compels the dying sun
To freeze in the stutter of the night, losing all benefit of sight
To bet against the shadow of the light, and go against the grain for what is right
How to define the emptiness inside, when all you know is fighting at your side
And luck it seems is just a tiny box, that holds a metal pick unlatching locks
That guard against the riddle so unfair, a teardrop on a noose of newly minted hair
Separation is a universal theme, it’s one that tears the seams unseen
Tensions wide-awake like a crossbow, taut with debt and elderly regret
A sign of things to come under the moon, that sniper whistling familiar tunes
Death is one of many things I fear, but short of losing you my ghastly dear
Four more years is all we ever had, passing through this wilderness so mad
Several years ago, I took my place, in the lineage of crescent-faced
Dreamers who believe with angel wings, we are the martyrs of tomorrow’s wizardry
The devil hides inside menageries, with robots that resemble you and me
We cannot understand his wicked ways, until we sip the bitter aftertaste
It trails on and on forevermore, hunting down the ones who know the score
Our love is like a broken glass of wine, shattered by the recoiling of the vine
And still, we seek to separate the shards, from the sacramental curse of our cards
The old shall pass away unto the new, and everything that comes will never do
To repair the damage we inherited: the silence at the end of grateful dead
Spirals of our fear whipping ‘round, disturb the slumber of the ground
And what we had in store, forever now, is lost: inside the sniper’s bow

“The Prize”
I can see the gold reflecting in their eyes
We do all that we can to just survive
And balance life beyond the daily grind
All begin, relegated to obscurity
Without the means to connect you and me
I’m out here on the fringes picking locks
To find my way inside the magic box
Though recognition isn’t everything
I can’t survive without a means to bring
I need something to break for my campaign
Of songs that house like shelter from the rain
The balance isn’t right or just or fair
But someday they will listen, stop, and stare
My heart is like a zeppelin high above
That floats over an endless sea of fog
To fly is something that I cannot do
Without the help of people just like you
I need a way to orchestrate my life
And find resources for my second sight
The gift of Art so plentiful and true
Is wrapped in paper fees and ribbon dues
So many artists and so few reprieves
To dream is such a solitary thing
We’re all alone in the slumber of the night
And can’t share visions trying though we might
To elevate my heart above the fray
Is something that I yearn for every day
But trade it surely, I would gladly do
To fix this broken avenue to you
To build a relationship that lasts
I rummage through the remnants of my past
And find the keys unlocking sacred doors
I’m picking locks and kneeling on the floor
So, throw a scrap to me that I can eat
I’m a beggar, with bruised and broken feet
To finalize the shore where I’ll arrive
I go deep inside my most masterful dive
Homelessness is such a state of mind
Precarious, and oversimplified
To win is not a neon everything
But helps to ease the tensions of the dream
So, humor me before I have to go; come find me all alone after the show

The clown walked home in the falling rain
One last trick to end the pain
One less clown to bother you
Like a toothache, or a wooden shoe
A prayer from the skies high above
That he might find the ways of love
A simple clown of many tricks
Bringing laughter, joy, and merriment
To the children of the fair
Who stop to watch and always stare
At the handkerchief with nothing inside
Except a daisy, hidden; surprise!
Their eyes turn wide and brim with tears
The ones which bounce off the clown’s wet ears
Turning corners in the street
He knew that he would one day meet
A princess who could heal the pain
Dripping, in the falling rain
Remembering the gallery
Where she was perfectly aligned
With other muses of her kind
Thank the Gods, he wasn’t blind
Or deaf or mute or so inclined
To pass up opportunities
That passed before him on the street
Where raindrops falling all around
Made the gentlest sound
His princess had gone away
To the end of yonder days
To the end where nothing lasts
He had no purpose anymore
For magic tricks had lost their flare
But still the children would stop and stare
And they might miss his crimson hair
And button nose and rubber gloves
Those children like the purest doves
Flying to the magic airs above
To the future so inspired to survive
He realized that he was alive
Life’s a crystal carousel of light
But cannot be seen, in darkest night
And Heaven settles everything
When others cannot bear to bring
To light the stories that they share
Of button nose and crimson hair
We are all clowns in our own way
And must survive another day
So, Harry Wrigley changed his course
And filled his cup not with remorse
But with the promise of the dawn
And everything that went along
He stayed to watch the rain subside
And laughter filled his sparkling eyes
(laughs)

A Long Time Ago
06:28

Deep in the black wilderness of countless stars and endless expanse
Hidden in the cold, desolate depths of nothing, and lost in forever
We come into being for such a brief moment, bedazzled and perplexed
Bowled over by the apparent insignificance of our lives
Yet struck by the immediacy and potency of our passions
We wrestle with the nature of our existence
Hoping to find an answer that can reconcile
The tensions and contradictions inherent to our predicament
Upon the generations of war and plight and famine
Some of us were fortunate to be born into relative security
With food to eat and shelters above our heads
But still the battle rages on all around us
The struggle for meaning, and for comfort
The search for purpose and for glory
On this spinning top, of a world we call home
Soon enough it becomes painfully clear that not everyone has our best interests at heart
There are those among us who will take whatever they can just to get by, or so they’d say
Fueling the bottomless pit of their insatiable desires
Building upon the age-old legacy of cynical competitiveness
They do nothing to elevate the name of humanity, beyond the limited constraints
Of animalistic, primitive tribalism. Carnivorous and conniving
Our fellow men muse endlessly at their own inventions
And relish in the appetites, they inherited from the flame
A solitary prayer is cast out into the deep abyss
A hopeful wish that we will not be judged by our weakest link
But rather by the strength of our conviction to overcome the base nature of our origin
And rise up to meet the challenge: to grow and to live united, together
And bound by a common goal: to secure livelihood for all women, children, and men
So that none live in poverty, and all come to know the promise of self-actualization
In a world so full of pain
But still the stars flicker mindlessly above, indifferent to the prayer that hangs over our heads
Like a fishing net, just waiting to catch any and all opportunities for providence
That may fall from the heavens on high
We work and we toil, beneath this net of hope, mending it, and repairing it
Generation after generation, while others seek to tear it down, and sell it out
For spare parts and traps for the innocent
Will we ever come to know the reality of egalitarian living?
Why should we accept a system that places the luck of few before the needs of many?
And should it come as any surprise, that the skies are empty
And no one wants to visit the land where money reigns with absolute resolve
To keep the masses fat and enslaved to the whims of the corporate elite?
I believe that we are rapidly approaching a revolution
The likes of which have never been seen before
When children lead and resources are shared with all by all
To finally live up to our basic creed that each is created, an equal part
Deserving of a fair shot at life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
Our private lives are no longer our own, our data is bought and sold
But what the world needs now is a collective vision of kindness and generosity
A trust and compassion that’s reinforced to repeal the divisions imposed on us
By lowly leaders who profit when ordinary people, like you and me, are sorely misinformed
The potential effort of average human beings is enough to
Topple the power structures of old and build a new world
Where the prayer we send out is backed by a reality of moral and ethical justice
One day our net of hope will catch the fallen stars, and our wish for brighter days
Will ring true throughout all lands. We will come to see that although we may be
Sequestered to a remote corner of an infinitely vast universe, we are not alone
For we have each other, and that should be enough for now
